Yeah.. until application/game developers start utilizing multithreading more frequently, single-thread performance is all that matters.

Which is why IPC performance has always been so crucial. Intel has insane IPC performance which is why they perform so well even at low clock rates (and because of the low rate it is more power efficient), whereas AMD depends on clock rate.
