Have I downgraded instead of upgraded

My old card bought a few years ago was a Gigabyte ATI Radeon HD 4850 512MB.

I just bought and installed a ASUS EAH6670 HD 2GB. Updated the driver using AMD driver utility. Tweak the card to game mode using ASUS GPU tweak.

Before I removed the old card I ran 3DMark06 and got a 3Dmark score of 10053. Ran it again with the new card and only got 8136.

Can anyone give me some idea what might be wrong? Surely the new card is a better spec and memory and should give a higher score.

Nope, you effectively downgraded. While the HD 6670 is a newer card, it is about 20% slower than the HD 4850. The HD 6670 is roughly equal in power to a HD 4830.
