I have a system with an ATI Radeon HD4600 video card running win7 and a catalyst upgrade was installed today. I have had nothing but problems since. It seems that anytime a flash video is played my browser hangs. I use Opera and IE 7 and it happens with both of them. Everything ran perfectly until today's update to driver version 8.961.0.0.

Some things I need to ask first...

1) Why are you still using IE 7? We are now on IE 10...with IE 11 coming out soon.

2) What version of .NET Framework do you have installed?

3) Driver version 8.961.0.0?? Is that 13.4? 13.6?

Adobe Flash had some new updates in the last little while...a new update rolled out last week.

The Radeon HD 4600 series is now a LEGACY product. It no longer receives "monthly" driver updates. It is now in the same category as the Radeon HD AGP, HD 2000, and HD 3000 series.

According to AMD, the latest Windows certifed driver available for the HD 4000 series is 13.1 (or 8.97.100.7)...which was released on 1/21/2013.

There is a 13.4 BETA driver which is from 4/29/2013.

EDIT:

Did you happen to update your drivers through "Windows Update" ?

It is IE 10. I don't use it very much and I don't keep track of the updates.

I don't know what version of the .net framework is installed. I get automatic updates. How can I check?

I tried the driver update but was told I have the latest version installed.

The update this morning was for the ATI Catalyst control center. I think I'll check with ATI. DUH! AMD bought ATI.

Thanks for your help.

Ron
