Have to admit I'm stumped on this one ... anyone? ... perhaps the old driver needs to be uninstalled first, or the use of a driver-cleaning utility is in order?
What are the specs of the PC in question? What video hardware or graphics card does it have? Maybe in this case the driver version is as recent as it can get because of the model or family of the graphics board ... if it's not a relatively new card that is.
