I am looking at upgrading my graphics card. Simple. But I'm not familiar with what is and is not compatible with the systems that I have. I am intrested in upgrading to the R9 @90 or the 290x, but what I currently have is a AMD FX-6300 6 core (3.5 Ghz) Processor, Windows 8.1, 8 GB of RAM, with my current graphics card is an AMD Radeon R9 270. So as I have said I just want to know if they are compatible, and if either will  help with gaming/animating. Thank you

Power supply will be a determining factor in the choice of cards. You neglected to say what PS you have.

I'm looking for an overall improvement, but the game that my current card struggles with the most is modded Fallout: New Vegas.
