I am not sure if this forum is the right place to describe an innovative idea for a new extension, as it seem to be a community forum here while I target an actual driver's developers.

As I am bigger fan of nVidia, I posted the subject in their forum first. Sorry, but I do not want to double-post it here in case I will decide to edit some of it.

The goal of that extension is to put an end to the z-buffer resolution artifacts and allow to render an infinitely large scenes with infinitely small near clipping plane. It is possible, but requires some of the traditional fixed functionality to be replaced.

I would like to get a response from either nVidia or AMD and hope that the proposed extension could be implemented and become available in near future.
