I'm posting here because the AMD error reporting team seems ignoring me. So, since Catalyst 12.5, some components won't be installed at all. They're even not listed in CIM, as well as the display drivers themselves ! To be clear, while trying to fix I even did a fresh install of W7 SP1 X64, with all drivers up to date. I was running on a 32bits architecture previously, but the issue remains.
Not listed :
-
DD
-
CCC
-
Avivo
-
AVT
-
DnDT
-
WMD
Listed :
-
Manager
-
SDK
-
HDMI Audio
-
Hydravision
So, I'm stuck with 12.4 versions. This issue occurs since drivers v12.5 until the new 12.8.
Any idea of why this is due to ?

im having the same problem, not even fixed with the beta version. A minute ago a installed the last driiver 12.8 but in the CCC indicates 12.6 version.
I try to use the driver swepper and clean the registry entries but still the same problem.

Hi capitol. I had exactly the same problem. Before reinstalling Windows completely, like you, I tried to clean my system from any trace of AMD drivers with Driver Sweeper, even deleted some related assemblies. But nothing to do, it remains...

I only want to be sure if the files installed are indeed 12.8 version. Someone could help us with that?

That you don't have those listed means you're trying to install catalyst version not designed for your card or operating system.
The latest driver for 4870 is Catalyst 12.6 WHQL that comes different version for x32 and x64 systems. Before you install it, uninstall old catalyst completely with the use of the driver sweeper, reboot, delete standard vga and reboot. Now try Catalyst 12.6 WHQL:
Catalyst 12.6 WHQL x32
Catalyst 12.6 WHQL x64
Your OS must be in proper state without service tweaks applied or components disabled.

My bad, yes, I was thinking about that this morning. But it should still be compatible at least, that means AMD has put restrictions. Too bad, really...

lol come on don't take it bad... the fact is, I had this issue with 12.5. I didn't try 12.6 because there was 12.7 beta already when I took a look at the updates status. I'm downloading all 12.6 drivers right now. I'll see after having repacked'em...
oh and my mistake is that I was always bypassing the "select your model" page. I had direct links to the necessary, so it was...

I just noticed that my Driver Packaging Version is 8.982-120727a-145315C-ATI (12.6 version). The 12.8 is 8.982.0.0000 8.982-120727a-144945C-ATI, but the other drivers are correct 12.8v
2D Driver Version 8.01.01.1253 2D Driver File Path /REGISTRY/MACHINE/SYSTEM/ControlSet001/Control/CLASS/{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}/0000 Direct3D Version 9.14.10.0924 OpenGL Version 6.14.10.11762 Catalyst Control Center Version 2012.0806.1213.19931.
So i don't get it....
