ISSUE
When playing a 3d game in fullscreen mode (directx or opengl) on one monitor, the video playing fullscreen on other monitor slows down to 1 fps or slower.
Catalyst Drivers:
Driver information would have been posted in table form, but happens on any driver i can get installed on windows 8.
Happens on all drivers from the 12.6 through the current 12.8 Windows 8 supported driver.
Software Tested:
Happens with any 3d fullscreen game, running fullscreen windowed mode fixes it, but is very very annoying. Especially haveing to use d3dwindower on games that don't have a windowed mode. Only happens on windows 8, full x64 proffessional version, Release candidate and preview. Windows 7 x64 ultimate is unaffected. Media player is independent from the problem as it was tested with VLC, MPCHC, and WMP.
List of tested games:
World of Warcraft
Driver
Prototype 2
NFS The run
Microsoft combat flight simulator
Flatout 3
Saints Row The Third
Spiderman
Drift: Showdown
Spec Ops The line
MX Reflex
and many more....
Hardware tested on:
Gigabyte AMD HD6870 1gb
i5 2500k on biostar x68 express board
8gb ddr3 1600
dual ssd's raid0 for primary drive, 2tb 7200rpms for secondary storage
750w ps + custom 12v driver with over 100a on single 12v rail.
both displays 1080p, tried all ports on video card in case it was something odd like that.
All temps well under tjmax. Nothin in the system ever breaches 60 degrees Celcius.
It is not a problem of the hardware not keeping up as I ran these movies fullscreen while playing the games fullscreen in windows 7 without issue. What I am wanting is someone to try the same and see if they are having the same issue or not. I haven't had the opportunity to test on any other systems as most I work on run nvidia cards. This is my main PC though, so I would like verification of the problem from someone else running Windows 8 x64. And then if possible continue to debugging/workaround.
