amd driver update?

Hey guys im really confused on how to update my amd drivers.

1. I downloaded the lastest amd driver, 12.8

2. I remove all ati/amd in the add-remove programs in control panel

HERE COMES THE CONFUSING PART. I went to DEVICE MANAGER and check the DISPLAY ADAPTER and it seems that my graphics card has still a driver on it.

Should I uninstall also this driver?

Erm .. that would be the generic AMD driver which ships with Windows, the AMD driver which can be downloaded via Windows Updates or even the driver left in the WINDOWS REPOSITORY folder so that you get basic screen functions, that's all, no mystery, Scooby Doo can stay at home !

No, you shouldn't ..

Oh, and also no point posting images which can't be seen due to them being hosted on a forum where you need to be logged in to view attachments etc .. ..

Cat 12.8s seem to have a load of issues .. Stick with the 12.6 drivers, they work fine .. and as always, if the driver read-me notes say that a certain release addresses issues A, B & C or problems X, Y or Z and you ARE NOT having those issues, then you don't need to update the drivers .. as the saying goes - If it ain't broke .. etc.

Sorry for the images, i updated it. I hope you could see them.

Does this mean that i dont have to uninstall that driver? And should I carry on installing the 12.8 driver? You said that 12.8 driver has lot of issues, what driver version should i install? fyi i dont have crossfire and im not planning at the moment to do crossfire.

As you can see, it says "Microsoft Windows Hardware Compatibility Publisher" = the generic AMD driver from the Windows repository folder, which is shipped with Windows so that AMD cards can have a basic driver after Windows is installed .. I'd leave it alone.

Cat 12.4 or 12.6 .. whichever works best for your particular setup ..
