I have:

Radeon HD6950

Intel Core i7 2600

Gigabyte GA-P67-UD3 Motherboard

I pulled my desk apart to tidy up the cables, and since restarting the computer I can no longer run additional monitors through my displayport adaptors. Prior to the re-arraning I had 4 monitors working fine, now catalyst tells me "To extend the desktop, a desktop or display must be disabled" What could I have possibly changed?

I was on Catalyst 12.8, have tried upgrading to 12.9 beta but no luck

Alright, unplugging and reseating the graphics card seems to have fixed it. Should have tried that before posting I guess

Hi, I'm having the same issue.

I didn't do any rearranging, but one day my 3rd monitor stopped working.
Radeon HD6970
2 monitors plugged in via DVI
1 monitor via Active mini DisplayPort adapter

This started about a month ago - I had the issue about a week before I went on vacation, then I got back and moved to a new home. I'm just now getting around to setting everything up again and still running into this issue.

I'm unaware of any updating that occured. The adapter still allows the monitor to be used, but receive the "To extend the desktop, a desktop or display must be disabled" message only allowing 2 at a time.
