Graphics Card: Sapphire HD 7850

Driver Version: 12.10

OS: Windows 7 64 bit

Issue Details: I updated to the 12.10 version on the 2nd and around 3-4 days ago my computer has started to randomly crash anytime between ten to hours after start-up. The crashing occurs both while playing games, or when browsing the internet; firefox seems to cause the crash to occur faster.

Motherboard: ASRock Z77 Extreme 4

PSU: Seasonic 520W

Display Devices: HP 2310 using a DVI connector.

Applications and Games: Firefox, Chrome, WoW, Dota 2.

CPU: Intel i5 3570K

BIOS Version: The newest one, I believe it's 2.40.

System Memory: Corsair Vengeance 8HB(2x4)

Additional Hardware: No extra fans installed, 1 1TB harddrive Hewlett Packard (Unsure of model, old hard drive)

Additional Details: When the crash occurs, it's usally a plain gray screen but I have gotten orange a few times and gray with blocks once.

You could try uninstalling 12.10 and dropping back to 12.8.  It's what I did with my 7850.

Though I wasn't having system crashes with 12.10, there were problems it was causing with Photoshop where Photoshop was crashing.  On top of that the power saving monitor screen power-down feature stopped working in 12.10.

Seems like there's been a lot of disruption from the Windows 8 release, so probably it's just best to wait for a stable new release.

You might want to monitor your temperatures too, by the way, and make sure you haven't had a fan fail or something blocking airflow.  I like TechPowerUp GPU-Z for monitoring the GPU temps, but the Catalyst Control Center will show you the info without downloading/installing anything.

I'd also grab gpu-z and let it graph your gpu temps. Or you can use something like afterburner which can display your gpu's sensor data on the game's screen.

UPDATE

Switched back to 12.8 yesterday and I haven't had a problem since. As for my GPU temp, I'm hitting around 27 C idle and not getting above 40 during gaming. Thanks you guys for your time.

As far as I am concerned it is the drivers.  Myself and six others updated to Cat 12.10 and suddenly a number of different games started crashing.

Even going back to 12.8 we still stuffer many of the issues.  Did a complete uninstall of all Cat drivers, used a Cat cleaner, then reinstalling 12.8 helped but we still have issues though not as severe.

Been using ATI cards since the 9500 Pro, your drivers have been superb up to this point but there is definitely an issue with 12.10.

We are all using 6950's 70's, or 7970 cards on Win7 X64.  If it was just one of us, would not blame the driver.  But seeing how it has affected a number of us and all problems started immediately after installing the Cat 12 drivers that we all had done within a day of each other. 

Issues being expereinced:

Game crashes, no crashes prior ro 12.10

Video lag.  Screen would go black, would hear the audio, 15 to 30 seconds later, game would resume.  This lag would happen at any time, during start up of the game or in the middle of gameplay.

Installing a new driver fix (update) is a option, not a requirement. The 'read me' file on all drivers state what game/application/issue/etc it fixes. If none apply to you...stay with what you have.

I have similar with topic starter issue. Complete system crash(random)  if 3D applications , Firefox loading videos,video editing . working so-so only 12.8 driver ,anything higer crashing my PC

No this is not a PSU issue ,its working after windows crash(totaly frozen)
