Help please. First, I know my way around a PC and Win operating system pretty well. I have tried everything I could find on the net to help get CCC and Radeon 12.10 then 12.4 driver installed, after installing new Saphire Radeon 7850 1G vid card. Previous Radeon 6550? ran fine.
I have run the install executable as Administrator about a dozen times with the same result. The driver and SDK installs fail with the following error messages:
AMD Catalyst Install Manager: "Application Install: install package failure"
driver: "inf file not found"
Catalyst CC reports successful install, but does not appear in the list of installed programs. Device Manager shows new Radeon 7850 vid card.
System: Win 7-64 Home Premium SP1; Intel i5 CPU, 4 GB DDR3 ram; premium 650 watt PSU; Gigabyte P55A-UD3 MB.
I have uninstalled previous drivers; deleted all ATI and AMD folders from HD; deleted all AMD and ATI folders in registry; revealed and deleted old driver references in Device Manager; attempted numerous manual driver updates in Device manager (msg: no driver compatible with your hardware found). I have been working on this 2 days now.
As a test I installed a virgin Win 7-64 OS on an unused HD partition. Radeon driver 12.10 then installed flawlessly. Guess this rules out hardware and BIOS incompatibility. Any words of wisdom greatly appreciated. Barring some new insights, I think OS wipe and reinstall is my only remaining option.
