Would someone from AMD please answer why there have been no Catalyst drivers posted for almost THREE MONTHS, they used to be posted monthly!

I cant get Far Cry to run in crossfire mode with my two 6850/6870 cards and expect that the next Catalyst driver should have the Crossfire profile for this game.

Thanks!

They don't make monthly releases anymore. It was announced months ago. The next driver release comes when it's done.

Did you look at the 12.11 Beta driver? It was released in early November and was updated as recently as December 3rd (to version 11). As for newer releases, they'll come once the testing and development is done, and when the digital signing by Microsoft has completed. Unfortunately, there is no guaranteed timeframe for releases because problems can come up, or changes need to be made. But the 12.11Beta v11 was designed for FarCry issues, and the CAP2 also features some improvements for CrossFire systems in FarCry.

Thanks very much for the fast replies, I'll try again with the latest Beta drivers and CAP2. I'm still a bit disapointed that the drivers wont be released regularly like they used to be though.

The reason AMD did that is so they wouldn't have to split their driver team up and release driver packages (and spend $1000) for months where relatively few things change. That, and they can react to things like crappily programmed games quicker.

These are only unconfirmed rumors for now...

There is planned Catalyst 13.1 and only thing that is known is that Automatic updates will be removed from it due some security risks.

I would expect that AMD will announce some more specific dates of Catalyst releases, especially since it moved to quarterly releases.

I would expect a 13.1 sometime later in the month with a removed automatic updates feature (which is never a good thing anyway), but I wouldn't expect to much difference between it and the last beta, the driver team is most likely focused most on the HD 8000 series preliminary drivers.

True enough, black_zion. The other thing is that when issues exist as GamerNate78 tried to detail, contacting the actual Catalyst Engineers can get the issue investigated. We see it often enough where game forums are full of people complaining about a driver bug or crossfire issue, but there are no reports for the Catalyst Engineers to actually look the driver code to see what can be adjusted, even if it's a problem in the game code and not the driver software specifically.

Normally, they're kept at www.amd.com/report for the latest WHQL release, and www.amd.com/betareport for the latest Beta release. Both are closed now with the upcoming driver release, but that's how to get issues addressed that are present in the driver coding, GamerNate78. Once they get all your info, they can investigate it, but they can't do anything if they're never told about issues.

People will happly post on gaming/clan/tech forums about issues they are having, beliving that someone at AMD is employed to check out forum posts for such issues. Or someone else who has a similar issue, knows of quick fix for said error.

Having quickly checked my Vision Control Centre thingy I can see no link for a report form of any kind. I may be wrong. It maybe hidden away somewhere?

If there isn't a link already, would not be a good idea to intergrate a link in VCC to a bug report form? or make it more visible if there is one? That way users haven't got the excuse of not knowing where to find the form or spend ages looking on google for it.

I'm sure more would use the error/bug forms if a simple link was made available

That would be located in the FAQ section > http://emailcustomercare.amd.com/

Most people don't recognise bugs, they just acknowledge that their PC doesn't want to work and have it repaired for money. A link like that in CCC would just be useless for them, only something to make PCs seem more complicated and impossible to understand.

Those few who have some knowledge, have the skills to find out how to report their issues. Like you posted in a forum and got a link (above my post). Some people even find it by themselves.

But make that link availble in VCC (unless its found when you hit ? in VCC) You know something like a tab under the information one so its there in plain view when you open VCC. Call it Error/Bug Reporting and have a small paragraph or example on what information is required in the description box. So people know what kind of thing to write

Why go to a forum to find out how to error report if its already there for you? If error reporting was made easier or seemed to made more accessible then thats got to be win situation for both company and consumer?

Sure some people wouldn't use it. But those that did would at least have some sort of knowledge about what bugs and errors they are having. And when they come to reporting them will make it easier for developers to understand what they are experiencing. The more information they have the better the next driver is going to be. Or at least that's how the theory would work.

i make a better idea include it in the vcc and make it were it atomatically pulls all your system info and the only thing you have to do is give  brief description of what the issue is then when you send it the engineers already have all your system info drivers and bios info right there for them with what the issue is now jeez a trucker just made the most simple but intellegent adition to amd software........

Technically it would be possible, but people would cry for privacy concerns.
