Running the .NET 4.5 framework.
Ran Driver Fusion/Driver Sweeper.
Manually deleted registry keys, dlls, etc.
Uninstalled and attempted reinstalling dozens of times.
Why the hell won't this install? Or at least give me a real error message as to why it's not working.
System:
Intel Core i7 920 C0
XFX Radeon HD 7850 Core Edition
Windows 7 x86_64 Ultimate

Have you run Windows Update and have it scan for available updates? If there are any missing .Net, C++ or Service Pack updates for the OS, it can cause the installer to fail. Also, when it fails, are there any errors given in the log at the bottom? And which components are listed as failed-to-install? Which file did you try to install? These will all help to determine why it keeps failing.

I am up to date on all of the afformentioned software. Win7 is at SP1, .NET is at a 4.5 update that was released on 1/8/2013, etc.
The only thing I am trying to install is Catalyst Control Center, I have the drivers installed for the card (both video and audio (For HDMI)).
The most frustrating part is the error message it gives me. It's not a real error message. It just says
| Error messages |
|
Application Install: install package failure!
Which leaves me no where. I have no idea what to do. Can I find the real error log somewhere, or is this really the *****error message that I have to work off of?

It does not.
Oh, possibly important thing I overlooked. I had Catalyst installed and working before. Running 12.6 (I believe) with an HD 6570. I got the 7850 and then tried to do an update and that's when Catalyst crashed, stopped running, and then wouldn't start again. So I uninstalled and reinstalled it, ran through all the recommended steps, and now here I am.

I had a similar issue after upgrading from a 4870 to my present card. I tried everything...it turned out that there were still remenants of my old 4870 software that wasn't uninstalled. I found the fix thru Microsoft. Here it is, give it a shot: http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=419

No such luck. After enabling hidden devices I filtered through every relevant section. Only things I found were two drivers in the "Other Drivers" catagory, "amdkmdag" and "Vgasave".
Took them both out, uninstalled the drivers with catalyst install manager, ran driver sweeper/fusion, rebooted and I'm still getting the same generic failure message.
I'm getting pretty desperate at this point, I'm on the phone with teir 2 customer service at AMD right now. Even if this gets resolved, I probably won't be going AMD for my graphics solutions in the future. I've been fighting trying to get the configuration program installed for three days. I've spent a lot more time doing this than actually playing the games I'd like to play.

Have you tried a full Catalyst Suite instal over the top(express)(no uninstal).

There's your problem. It's well-known to cause the exact same issue you describe. (Just search the forum, mostly the archive section.) Unfortunately the solution is not known. Someone should process monitor it and find out what it delets it shouldn't delete. Then it may be possible to restore it. Up until now the only 100% solution is an OS reinstall. People usually don't like this solution, and also fail to acknowledge that it was them who messed up the system with that horrible utility.

Driver Sweeper was actually recommended to me today in both Teir 1 and Teir 2 when I called AMD.
Actually, I'm pretty sure I spoke with the same Marc that patrols these forums every now and again.

That's how I got into this mess in the first place.
EDIT: Also, this problem existed before I ran Driver Sweeper.
EDIT 2: Also Driver Sweeper lists everything that it's going to delete. Doesn't get all of whats listed unless you boot into safe mode, but just run it and you'll be able to see each .dll and each registry key that it gets rid of.

Driver sweeper backs up what it deletes. You can reinstall anytime.

Beyond late for that.
I stripped down my entire system of all .NET and C++ redistributables (Sans .NET 3.5 since Win7 requires that), stripped every mention of AMD Graphics and ATI in my system using Driver Sweeper, CCLeaner, and diving into the registry myself. Reinstalled each .NET framework one by one, and each C++ redistributal one by one.
No luck with getting past the error.
Last resort: Reformat, I'm running the Windows updates and installing the C++ Redistributable... I'll be trying catalyst in about 10 minutes. Wish me luck.

And no dice. This is unbelievable.
Figured I'd leave this here for anyone else who inevitably runs into the same problem so they know what doesn't work...
An overview of everything that I have done (in good formatting) can be found here. http://pastebin.com/WnHHKiuU

Your post is quite TLDR and unreadable. Did the OS reinstall help or not?

No it did not. Also the formatting for posts is ***** up, looked fine in a text editor.
EDIT: Just dumped it into a pastebin. Here's the link. http://pastebin.com/WnHHKiuU

May I ask how you obtained your copy of Windows?
