This is an odd problem, not sure if it is AMD's Catalyst or not.  Have not yet solved the issue.

The problem occurs when I select 'restart' as opposed to shut down and then manually restart the PC.  If restart is selected my system powers down but when it comes back up the third monitor (the one connected to my graphics card's displayport, using a displayport adaptor (to DVI), that monitor does not come back on.  I must press the on button, not once, nor twice, but three times the charm and then it powers up and works fine.

When I select shut down, and manually press the power button on my PC to restart it, then this third monitor behaves as expected and powers up just fine.  I do notice that this one lags behind the one connected to the HDMI port by several seconds.  But it catches up.

I have my system set up as a dual boot with Windows 7 or Windows 8 option. (Win8 just does not support all my games).  It does not matter whether I boot up in Win7 or Win8 the problem is the same.

Any ideas?

These are identical LG E2040 newer monitors.

I'm using a Saphire Displayport to DVI active adaptor.

I have two HD6670's crossfired, on an AMD A10-5800K APU system.

What's up with this annoying problem?

Read the "read this first" stick too late.  The following is for my post above:

From the Information tab on my Catalyst Vision Control Centre:

Driver Packaging Version 9.01.8-121202a-150272E-ATI

Catalyst Version 12.11

Provider Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.

2D Driver Version 8.01.01.1278

2D Driver File Path /REGISTRY/MACHINE/SYSTEM/ControlSet001/Control/Class/{4d36e968-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}/0001

Direct3D Version 9.14.10.0942

OpenGL Version 6.14.10.11995

AMD VISION Engine Control Center Version 2012.1202.303.5362

AMD Audio Driver Version 8.0.0.8808

ASUS Motherboard F2 A85M Pro
AMD A10-5800
Graphics Cards,  ASUS HD6670's (Crossfire enabled)
32 GB Kingston HyperX Red RAM
Windows 8 Pro, 64 Bit
Windows 7 Home Premium, 64 Bit
That shoud about do it.  Can't think of anything else one would need to know, but if there is, ask.

Just realized, appart from the version of Catalyst I'm using, most of the other information is listed in my signature.  Oh Well, redundancy doesn't hurt and it ain't always bad to repeat yourself either.
