Everytime i play any game, the screen freezes, then goes black, then it resumes after 10 seconds or so... this has been driving me nuts, this is a brand new card, and i'm tempted to return it if all fails...  I tried all the drivers even the beta one and no joy

I also did the memory checks, tested the cpu, all works fine... this is not a Hardware problem but a software problem that causes the hardware to fail....

Sounds like a faulty card to me. I suggest you try it in another computer and if it keeps on doing this, get it replaced.

I get this problem ever since I upgraded from my 5850  XFX Black editions to my 6790 XFX cards & all i can find out is there is some cards that do not like the new drivers as mine are ok playing BF3 but when I play COD,APB or anyother game or even when I am using firefox or IE.

All I get is a window next to the time tell me Display driver amdkmdap stopped responding and has successfully recovered. This happens for all events or with some games it just freezes & then I have to restart the PC.
