People have problems with 13.1 and CF. Try an older version, it should work.

12.8 and later (if I'm not mistaken, maybe 12.9) are compatible with 8 as well.

Yes, you can try that one as well. It wasn't officially released yet when I suggested rolling back.

Hi,
I have the opposite problem! I can't disable CrossFireX. Go figure.
My kit is a little aged, two HD4870x2 cards, so I'm using (or trying to) the v13.1 legacy driver update released last week.
Now I can't disable CrossFireX so I'm stuck with just two of my monitors working :-( A tough life...
Anybody got any thoughts about this new inability to turn CrossFireX on/off?
Cheers,
Glyn.

You have a different issue with a different set of drivers. What you're doiong is thread hijacking. That's my thought.

He is walking the line, but I think his intentions are good in trying to still help the OP resolve his issue. Let's all stick to resolving the OP's issue and in so doing, perhaps it will resolve Deep-Thought's problem too. ;Marc

Hi,
I've just had some success sorting my problem out and I hope it will translate to success for you solving your problem.
As I posted a little earlier my problem was I couldn't turn CrossFireX off; I could select the option, but it just bounced back and was never applied.
I had "upgraded" from v12.6 to v13.1. In the good old days upgrading used to often cause problems, but in more recent years we've got used driver upgrades just working so I thought nothing of it.
Then I decided to go old school. I uninstalled all AMD/ATi software, went back to the default drivers supplied by Microsoft with Windows 8 and restarted the PC.
Then I did a full clean install of the v13.1 drivers. After several reboots, some where my screens just sat there looking black (on, but no display) all is well. My power button is set to "Shutdown" so although I had no display I could still turn the PC off safely.
So a bit hairy, but it got there in the end. My machine is working happily with all three monitors, the latest drivers and CrossFireX can be turned off for work and back on for gaming.
I hope my experience helps you.
Cheers,
Glyn.

Thank you, Deep-Thought.
So there is a suggestion to try, OP. Try a really detailed driver uninstall and then reinstall Catalyst 13.1.
Here's the thread in the How-To category for that:

ACK! What do you mean exactly by only using 1/4 of your monitor? Is 3/4 of your monitor black with no signal? Can you try and post up a picture or screen capture? ;Marc

Go through the suggested procedures for a clean install as previously outlined.
ALWAYS seems to take a couple of installs for MY drivers to be properly functioning!
13.2 beta 3 working extremely well.
