Hello

I have Gigabyte Radeon HD 7970 3GB GDDR5 and cannot get the audio to work correctly. The only setting im getting is "stereo" and its 2 channels.

I have connected the HDMI to my bluray and it should support 5.1, 7.1 and also 9.1 none of them are visible. Installed latest drivers and catalyst, including the beta version. Nothing worked

I also took my computer to support in a local store, cost me 50$ and its still not working. From what i have seen other have problems with HDMI audio with the latest of AMDs GPU.

I have connected HDMI to bluray that supports surround not to TV directly

My system is win 7 x64
MSI X79A-GD65 (8D), Socket-2011
Intel® Core i7-3820 Processor
Gigabyte Radeon HD 7970 3GB GDDR5
Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600MHz 32GB CL10
and
CM Storm Stryker Gaming Big Tower

By the sounds of it, it's a simlar probem to people using pc->avr->tv in that the EDID information is coming from the tv, which at a guess has 2 speakers.

If you are taking the audio from the bluray player to an amp or the bluray is a amp itself look in its options and find where to turn off the passthrough audio to the tv.
