Hello! i tried the new Beta Drivers for testing with texture flickering.

System Spec

i5 3570k

ati 7970 GHZ Ed!

The problem is NOT solved on many titles.

White and yellow Textures flicker heaily when far away. If you come closer the flickering disappears. Some flickering stays!

Can offer pictures if needed!

Games that flicker heavily:

Dead Space 3

Star Wars Old Republic MMORPG

Mass Effect 2

Minor Flickering:

Starcraft 2

I will continue the list when i have tried more games.

As for Dead Space 3! Flickering is seems better and not so heavy with disabled vsync!

I have no issues with the games you mentioned (don't have SWTOR to try though)

Maybe you didnt notice? It seems strange but i only got it when comparing it to another card without them, whe /eg. Nvidia 570/

Anyway. I do not have any problems with directx 11 games. Also the problem is described on many forums (guru3d etc). it is also adressed in 13.2 beta 3 changelog and thereafter. So i think its an official problem and has nothing to do with my card.

If you could make a video, which shows your issue in a way it is clearly visible and obvious, we could tell you wether we can see the same thing on our machines or not.

Fence on left side!

If you go near them, flickering vanishes!

I don't see that fence at all, but it is probably just me. I don't even have the game, so it doesn't really matter. I can see the problem in DS3 though. I'll start playing it soon, and I'll keep my eyes open for this.

I played a few hours yesterday night and I've seen none so far. Still looking though.

As a note. I tried my old 5850 and had the same problems! Only Directx 9c games!

PS: Reinstalled 9c Distribution Package! Same!

As mentioned:

FEATURE HIGHLIGHTS OF THE AMD CATALYST 13.2 BETA 5 DRIVER
(Please note that AMD Catalyst 13.2 Beta 5 includes all of the fixes found in previous versions of AMD Catalyst 13.2 Beta)

  • Crysis 3 multi-player Beta: Improves CrossFire scaling by up to 40%
  • Far Cry 3: Improves performance up to 10% at 2560x1600 with 8xAA
  • New 3D Mark release: Adds CrossFire profile support for the new 3D Mark release under Windows 8

AMD Catalyst 13.2 is now available, and includes the following updates:

  • Improves performance in the Crysis 3 Multi-Player Beta by up to 50% when 4x and 8x MSAA are enabled.
  • Improves performance up to 15% in high MSAA cases for the Crysis 3 beta release
  • Significantly improves latency performance in Skyrim, Boderlands 2, and Guild Wars 2
  • Improves single GPU performance up to 50% for DmC Devil May Cry
  • Improves CrossFire performance up to 10% for Crysis 2
  • Resolves Texture flickering seen in DirectX9.0c applications.
This is really official! Maybe not every card, configuration, and only some special textures. not all of them. E.G. Darksiders 2. You know these white areas you can use for climbing on things? These flicker when far away.
BTW: Trying my old 5850 for 2 hours now. Same texture flicking on same objects! Same driver!
