Now when I try to run any game (not just on steam) it works for a cdouple of minutesw before I see a message saying "HL2.EXE has stopped working, of course I will playing a source game but even when I play minecraft it does the same. I dont understand why this is happening but if anybody can help me i'd appreciate it.

I'm sure minecraft and most 3rd party games have no hl2.exe file, so something is very wrong with your system. I suggest checking for malware and considering a full OS reinstall.

Here is a link to get you started. It talks about your crashes.

There must be more to it if minecraft crashes with hl2.exe error.

No guys all my games I run crash, what I meant to say was that when I run source games like TF2 or CS:S it says "HL2.EXE has stopped working", what it says stopped working depends on the game im playing. Ive tried reinstalling, but the problem persists.

Next time something crashes, click on details (or whatever) and post the additional information here.

I attempted to get info by running TF2 to get it to crash but when it crashed it literally completely exited frorm the game, it did not say anything either. I looked in my task manager and I found the process "steamerror.exe" present but then it quickly died. This is with CrossfireX off.

If it crashed with no error messages whatsoever, your next step is running memtest86.

Alright I ahve fixed the problem! All I had to do was reset my RAM's speed to 1600MHZ and now my games run fine, I dont know why my motherboard or RAM cant handle 1600 MHZ but I can deal with it.

Glad it worked. Don't worry, RAM speed means absolutely nothing, at least nothing a human can perceive.
