I recently upgraded to a 7950. Everything seems to work fine, including gaming at high resolution, full detail etc. However, after I go back to browsing the web after a gaming session, after 15-30 minutes the system starts freezing up periodically: the mouse cursor will freeze in place, nothing will happen on the screen, so it's pretty good and wedged. It will usually unfreeze and go back to normal a few times, and eventually lock up alltogether and require a hard power cycle.
When it's starting to freeze up I've noticed high CPU utilization (50%, so I'm thinking all cores without HT).
If I try and do a graceful shutdown, shutdown hangs. One time during shutdown after about 15 minutes I saw a BSOD which said something about driver entering an invalid power state.
When I notice things starting to slow down, I can someimes relaunch a game and things go back to being stable (!) as long as I keep the game running in the background. (In fact that's how I'm writing this now.)
I've tried the drivers Windows recommends, as well as 13.1 and 13.2 beta but it doesn't seem to make any difference.
