I just installed a new Radeon HD 6970 card with 2GB to replace my old 4870x2 card.  I am having the same issue when trying to install the drivers, so at least we know we aren't the only ones having this issue.  I even tried uninstalling the old drivers and reinstalling from an installer I just downloaded from the AMD support Site.  When I open  the Catalyst Control Center, 90% of the commands aren't there anymore.

As far as I know this happens if you kill your OS by using driver sweeper (or one of its relatives). It's a side effect of it removing some important system components. An OS reinstall should help.

I don't run utilities like that.  I have seen what they can do to an OS too many times.  Reinstalling windows is not really an option.  I don't plan on spending a week reinstalling everything.  The driver was fine before the upgrade to the new card, as a matter of fact, I had updated it a bit over a week ago, with no problems.

You could try installing the drivers through the device manager.

Okay.  some clarification after a little research.  First off, the driver itself appears to be loading.  It is correctly showing my 6970 in Device manager and I can get to the proper resolution.  What isn't working as the Catylist control center.  The only settings I seem to have available there are for the power settings for my CPU, and CPU overdrive.  No panels for the card or monitor are showing in CCC.  I have uninstalled and einstalled 10 or so times, and in all kinds of ways.  When it tries to install, it gives me that error about the INF file not being found, but no specifics on what INF it is talking about.   I even uninstalled everything and tried installing from the DVD that came with the card.  Same issue every time.  I checked the logs and it says that the only driver that failed was the HDMI audio driver for some reason.  I'm starting to like Nvidia more and more.....  I can't even access the knowledgebase here, I get a bad host error as soon as I select desktop graphics from the first choice box in the search wizard page.  Not good...

..and did you install the required .netframework ?  This must be installed before you try and install the newer drivers. http://forums.amd.com/game/messageview.cfm?catid=444&threadid=162109&enterthread=y

Well.  Yes, I do have .NET4 installed.  I even reinstalled it twice, still no luck.  I have tried removing it from Device Manager, no luck.  I still get the HDMI Driver not loading, and still no ptiona in Catalyst for my Video Card, just my CPU.  I have a screen grab of what I get in CCC.

CCC Panel issue.

See what I mean.  The card settings menus just aren't there.

I even did two system restores, no luck.
