Hi folks,

perhaps someone can answer my question about power consumption:

When I have my monitors on cold standby (through e.g. "nircmd monitor off"), does the Catalyst driver cease the graphics calculations to save additional power or does it happily continue to calculate graphics that can never be seen on screen?

With best regards,

Horns

Depends on the card you use. The HD 7000 series have Zero Core which put it into standby mode, the rest have just a lower power C state.

Ayep, HD 7970 here - glad to hear that the driver will send it into a low consumption state even if the rest of the system is still running!
