Hi,

Newest driver is installed:
driver-paketversion      12.101.2.1-130313a-154550E-ATI
Anbieter                 Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.
2D-driverversion         8.01.01.1295
2D-driverpathd           /REGISTRY/MACHINE/SYSTEM/ControlSet001/Control/Class/{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}/0001
Direct3D-Version         9.14.10.0968
OpenGL-Version           6.14.10.12131
AMD VISION Engine Control Center-Version    2013.0314.338.4633
AMD Audio-driverversion  7.12.0.7714

To reproduce activate TressFX in Tomb Raider 2013. Some strands of hair go wild like Lara having her hand in a power outlet.

Same issue reported here in comment from Stephen Galang on April 12.

Anyone else?

Bye Frank

It looks like the bug is registered elsewhere and officially by AMD.

We also discovered a major graphical bug with TressFX on the Radeon HD 7790. When enabled, Lara's hair looks like a porcupine. It is out of place, artifacting, and blatantly obvious it is bugged. This could also be causing slow performance. AMD is aware of the bug and working on a fix. It is possible that the fix might also improve performance with TressFX enabled on the HD 7790.

and here

In this game we have a new tech called TressFX. It is an AMD specific hair rendering tech and while it worked flawlessly on the 7770/7850 using Catalyst 13.3 beta3 the press driver for 7790 had a bug which caused faulty rendering. We were therefore unable to test TressFX performance but will revisit when a fix is available.

New driver released.

The Catalyst™ Performance Driver for the AMD Radeon™ HD7790 graphics card for Windows based systems contains an update that resolves Corruption in Tomb Raider with TressFX enabled.

Yet to be tested

It looks like I am talking only to myself. But there where quite a few onlookers to my thread. So I am writing a conclusion to my problem.

Here are my test results:

With new driver (AMD_Radeon_HD_7790_12.101.2.1-130416a) I still got some wild hair in the integrated Benchmark. I could still make the first picture above. But than the hair became smoother. I think in the whole benchmark turn the hair was ok in 80-90% of the time. In the game the error did not occur or I haven't seen it.

Than I installed Phenom 9550 Quad Core instead of Athlon II 4200+ and installed 4GB DDR2 800 instead of 3GB DDR2 533 which I got from a friend.

After that I made the tests again. And what should I say: No errors whatsoever.

I think most likely the memory made the change. The framerates are mostly the same as before.

Look like you really should have at least 4GB Memory for TressFx.

Bye Frank
