I am trying to set up my sound so tha I will get audio through my display port.  I have looked at the FAQ regarding sound but I never even see the "AMD HDMI OUTPUT" option under sound playback devices in windows.

I do not have an HDMI tv yet but want to make sure that I will get audio.  Does the display need to be hooked up to get the "AMD HDMI OUTPUT" option.  I understand that I would not be able to choose it, that it would be greyed out, but I thought after installing the drivers I should still see the device.

Please advice my system information below:

- AMD ATI FirePro V3750 (fireGL)

- Driver Version 8.911.3.4000

- Windows 7 Proffesional Service Pack 1 64bit

- Dell T3500

Please let me know if more information is needed.

Thanks

If the "enable disconnected devices" option is set in the playback devices dialog, it should show up. You can as well check device manager, there is should be visible as well.

Thanks for the reply

It is not in the sound playback devices or the device manager.  The machine originally came with windows Vista, could sound out option from the video card not be compatable with windows 7?  Are there any other drivers that I could install?

Thanks

It should be visible in the device manager as the amd high definition audio device, or as a generic hd audio device (using windows built-in drivers) or as an unknown multimedia device (using no drivers at all). If neither is visible, your card has no audio device or it's broken.

I just assumed that the video card had audio.  It is the ATI Firepro V3750, I guess it does not have audio. Thanks for the help
