After installing Windows 8.1 I can't open Catalyst Control Center. Even after installing the new drivers it still won't open. I get the following message.

Catalyst Control Center cannot be started. There are currently no settings that can be configured using Catalyst Control Center.

Edit: I fixed it. I reinstalled the drivers as administrator and that also reinstalled Catalyst Control Center.

I can smell cards older than 7k series getting moved to legacy state very soon.

During the install of this for me, my screen went blank like I expected it to, flashed a few times like I expected it to, then ended up with just a cursor.

I can move hte cursor all over, but nothing else worked.  Not the Windows Key, not Ctrl-Alt-Del, not Alt-Tab, not moving mouse to any corner, etc, etc.

Finally had to just reset entire box.  When 8.1 came back up, the desktop was working fine once again.  I can launch the catalyst control center.  Looking at the version number on everything

Driver Packaging Version: 13.15.1-130621a-158711E-ATI

Catalyst Version: 13.6

AMD catalyst Control Center Version: 2013.0621.2349.40929

Based on the 13.6, am I am not sure it got installed properly, since that is listed on the AMD page as the next BETA driver.

Also, at one point, a new AMD driver appeared in the Windows Update as an optional install.  I tried, but it failed.

Updating from Windows update or Steam is not a good idea at all.

I completely removed everything from teh system (unistalled drivers from device manager, unistalled from program, etc).  Then I reinstalled the preview driver.  Same thing, after a few flashes, cursor stayed the same and could be moved all over, never returned to usable.

I reset system, and it looks like it is installed, as the driver version has changed to "13.15.1-130621a-158711E-ATI".

Now I have two issues with this install.

1) It allows me to change my pixel format on my HDMI to RGb 4:4:4, but after 5 seconds, it resets back.

2) No AUDIO driver.  Devices are found, but no driver installed.

It seems that WDDM 1.3 is required for Miracast support, but no mention of this in the above article. If this is true, is WDDM 1.3 planned for Radeon HD 6000 series? I'm running 6620ge. Thanks

Ok, I have two systems built around two APUs - A8-3850 and E-350

I have installed Windows 8.1 on each of the computers and have installed the Preview driver.  Both drivers were updated yesterday (7/4/13) via Windows Update.

However, here is what is curious is that this:

E-350, Radeon HD 6310 driver, 13.150.102.0 is WDDM v1.3

A8-3850, Radeon HD 6550D driver, 13.150.102.0 is WDDM v.1.2

These APUs are both pre Trinity silicon aren't they?

Is this a problem with the installation for either board?

Obviously I would want the WDDM 1.3 support on both maching (Miracast) but would most certailnly want it on the more powerful A8 CPU.

Anything I'm missing about the driver support and/or will all APUs be updated eventually to 1.3 support?

Probably a typo in the driver inf file. Only Directx 11.1 cards are supposed to be WDDM 1.3 compatible.

Although these drivers are WDDM 1.3, they do not support miracast.  Or at least I'm led to believe this -- run dxdiag and choose to save all the information.  In the resulting text file, it will explicitly say that miracast is not supported.

I upgraded from win 7 to win 8, then installed the win 8.1 preview in anticipation of using miracast, so I was a bit disappointed to realize this.  Win 8.1 should be officially released soon (in fact, I think the RTM is floating around?), so hopefully we can get some official support for miracast soon?

Correct, these drivers are WDDM 1.3, but they do not support miracast as per dxdiag information.

I am also very much disappointed to go through the updates and come to realize Miracast not supported by graphic driver.

The windows 8.1 was officially realeased since 17th oct 2013.

Up to now just wait for AMD to realease  new driver with Miracast Support.
