I just bought a 7790, my previous card was a nice card 6670, worked great but it was time for an update, the problem with the HD 7790  is that sometimes when I'm surfing the internet using google chrome i get this message: "AMD / ATI Video Driver has stopped working properly. ", i get this message only when im using google chrome, not when im playing any game.

I check the temps and everything is fine, my psu is not great but i think its enough to handle the card , i checked the temps and everything is fine.

my specs:

CPU: AMD Phenom II 955 BE 3.2 (no OC)

RAM : 8gb ddr3

VGA: Sapphire 7790 1gb ddr5 dual-x OC (stock speed)

Motherboard: MSI NF725m-p43

PSU: Thermaltake TR2 600w

I have the drivers up to date, could this be a driver issue ?

I also noticed that the memory clock get stuck at 150 mhz when the driver "fails", and wont go up even when the gpu activity is at 100% and the gpu clock is at 1075 mhz

The HD 7790 GPUs require their own driver (AFAIK), so it'd be best if you went to the AMD site, looked specifically for the 7790 driver for your operating system, uninstall your current driver and then install the new one.

Might fix your problem.

Check the card in another computer. If it does the same thing, RMA it.
