Hey all, hopefully someone here might be able to help me.

I cannot get AMD Catalyst Control Center to open, when I try to open it I get a message like this one

AMD CCC Error

I have tryed to uninstall and re-install the latest version many times using the un-install option in AMD Catalyst Install Manager and I'm still greated by the same message.

I have used AMD Catalyst Un-install Utility and ran Driver Sweeper and removed all AMD drivers and then re-installed the latest version of Catalyst Control Center, and again I'm still greeted with the same message when I try to open it.

Looking in the Sticky Thread here : http://forums.amd.com/game/messageview.cfm?catid=454&threadid=167211&enterthread=y

"Locate entries with the public key token, "90ba9c70f846762e"

This public key token does not exist on my computer looking in C:\Windows\assembly.

I am at a total loss and have no idea how to get AMD Catalyst Control center to work, please any help will be greatly appreciated.

EDIT:

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit service pack 1
Motherboard: Gigabyte AMD 970A-DS3
Processor: AMD FX-4100 Quad-Core 3.60GHz
Graphics Card: Gigabyte AMD Radeon HD 7770 1GB GDDR5

Have you followed the instructions found in the How To FAQ forum. Stumped has detailed the instructions for Windows 7 to do a clean install.

I wonder what drivers you're trying to install. Symptoms show something incompatible with your card or OS.

Are you talking about this thread?
http://forums.amd.com/game/messageview.cfm?catid=444&threadid=162444&enterthread=y

"WINDOWS 7:

1. Uninstall old drivers using AMD Uninstall Utility (for Windows 7 only).  http://sites.amd.com/us/game/downloads/Pages/catalyst-uninstall-utility.aspx"

Then yes I have followed that, I have NET Framework 4.5 and Used AMD Uninstall Utility and then Installed the latest version of AMD Catalyst Control Center and it still won't open.

Just tried version 13.8

Uninstalled using AMD Uninstall Utility while my Anti Virus and Windows Firewall are off.

Uninstall finishes and I am promted to reboot PC.

Reboot PC and Install the 13.8 Version while my Anti Virus and Windows Firewall are off.

Install seems to go OK (which it always has) and then finishes and promts me to reboot PC.

Reboot PC and click on AMD Catalyst Control Center in the Start Menu but im still greeted by the same error message. "AMD Catalyst COntrol Center cannot be started"

I am at a total loss I don't understand what I'm doing wrong or what is causing this to happen.

I gave up and bit the bullit and re-installed windows, and am now able to open Catalyst Control Center.

Not the way I was hopping to fix it but it seemed the only way I would be able to as I ran out of alternative methods.

Thanks to those that tried to help.

I have the exact same problem as the OP, I've tried the same things but without any luck.

I uninstalled an HD6870 and then installed a HD7870, CCC worked before but not now.

The divers work fine it's just CCC that wont load, I really don't want to have to reformat just for the sake of CCC.

Has anyone managed to fix this problem ?

A guy were here approx. a month ago with a similar problem: CCC not opening. It was his .NET install being broken. The fix involved contacting M$ and giving remote access to M$ tech support. They fixed his .NET install and his CCC started working.

However, I'd rather reinstall windows 100 times than giving remote access to my machine. Just think about it. It takes 15 minutes + a few hours installing updates and your usual programs.
