Hi AllHave an HP P6-2133W, APU, A6-3620, Radeon 6530D,  8gbs of DDR 3 Ram, Will be upgrading to Windows 8.1 Pro soon as able to in October,  anyways will i suffer reduced performance using 8.1 Driver since i'll need that when i upgrade in the future.  Then i'll watch the release notes and only update if i really need an updated video driver after that i think is best to do.    Currently using 13.8 Beta1 in Windows 8 Pro 64bit

Yes, win8 is crap, 8.1 is even more crap, but that doesn't mean you'll have worse performance. Why would you? It's more determined by the hardware itself, than the drivers.

I Personnally really like Windows 8.0 and can't wait for 8.1 to come out,  Works well in my mind, i just heard updated drivers can sometimes cause performance issues, but guess if nothing to worry about then yay all set.And Will count down the days to 8.1 Release dateThank you for the reply

The only Windows version I would call crap is Vista. I guess most of the gamers love XP and 7.

But I still love Windows 7 that runs on my other system, but I do like Windows 8. You can't run older games, but that can be said of Windows 7 too.

And yes Oct 18th can get here soon enough.

Well...I wouldn't say Windows 8 itself is crap because it's just Windows 7 with a horrid UI and a couple of minor tweaks. The only Windows version I would say is crap is Windows ME with the best being Windows 2000 because it was a no nonsense OS that was solid as a rock. That computer doesn't really have THAT much performance to begin with, so nothing should change, assuming HP has Windows 8.1 drivers for their stuff.

I remember the last hand-me-down computer I had...Hewlett-Crappard with an 800mhz Celeron and some really BAD integrated graphics running Windows ME...I remember not being able to play any game or even music for an extended period of time because the sound driver would crash...

LOL, if you ever happen to acquire a time machine, go back to your former self and tell them to install win95 drivers for ME through the device manager. That is the most stable (only stable?) solution according to my experience.

LOL...  Windows ME worked like a charm for my gear...  I loved it.  I had older hardware (my Monster II and an ATI Rage 128 Pro, IIRC)...  and no OS at the time worked as good with those two in combo as ME...  The ONLY reason why I finally, after many many years, upgraded to XP is that I got rid of the Monster/Rage Pro combo for a Radeon 9600 Pro All-in-Wonder (also got rid of my SB AWE 32 for and Audigy 2 ZS) and of course ME was NOT something to use with that newer gear

Even now, I really like Windows 8...  but I have issues with a few drivers, my remote does NOT work with it (the remote from my old Radeon 9600 Pro) and I am not sure how well madVR was working with it...  So until I can work out these drawbacks I will be keeping my trusted Win 7 install.  I should try to play around with 8 again and see if I can resolve those issues, since 8 works much better with my 8350 and my SSD's
