I had some artifacts in Battlefield: Bad Company 2 with driver 13.1 and wrote about it on Tom's Hardware forums: http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1731879/graphical-artifacts-bfbc2-battlefield.html

Driver 13.1 has white blocky artifacts whenever you zoom in next to any wall, and 13.4 has colored geometric artifacts flashing all over the screen at times. 13.6 beta was the same as 13.4 but the artifacts were black rather than colored.

Once 13.1 was installed I could not go back and install 12.10 or older because then I would get errors, like kdbsync.exe has stopped working. Then CCC would stop working and crash and then Steam would give a "Bootstrapper" error and then crash...

So, I reinstalled Windows and installed 12.10. Everything worked fine, and no artifacts in BFBC2 for a month.

Now I buy Don't Starve and play it and eventually start getting artifacts in it, with driver 12.10. So I try driver 13.4 and it works fine with Don't Starve. Even allows me to use antialiasing without graphic glitches that 12.10 caused. But, alas, I can't play BFBC2 with this driver. So, I go to reinstall 12.10 and, bam! Same problem again with the kdbsync.exe has stopped working. Then CCC would stop working and crash and then Steam gives a "Bootstrapper" error and then crashes...

Does anyone know what catalyst 13.1 and 13.4 installs that makes reinstalling older drivers impossible, by causing these errors?

One solution I found said to uninstall AMD APP SDK Runtime, but that did not fix the problem.

I'll tell you a secret. Artifacts are not normal, especially in so many situations and with so many drivers. I don't know what card you have, but it's about time to RMA it, because you shouldn't see any artifacts ever.

MSI Hawk 7870.

I was going to RMA it, but the release notes on Catalyst 13.4 actually mention artifacts in BFBC2 and it was the only game I had them in. Although, claiming they were fixed - which means that catalyst 13.1 did create artifacts in BFBC2.

Version 13.4 / 12.104.0.0000

(supposed) Resolved issues:
"Corruption observed on textures in the game, Battle Field: Bad Company 2 with forced anti-aliasing enabled"

When I switched to 12.10 I had no problems for a month. As soon as I switched to 13.4 I had artifacts the second day of gaming.

No artifacts playing last night on 13.8 beta... so far...

Might have to RMA the card, but it sure seems like it's the driver's fault.

I found another thread about it here: http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=368290

And this is what the artifacts looked like with catalyst 13.6 Beta. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zG8v1P850ak

They are similar with 13.4 but colored - like pink and green. And 13.1 is totally different - only shows white blocky artifacts if you zoom in near any walls.

I have only seen this issue in BFBC2, Path of Exile, and Don't Starve.

Looks like the Green Team is calling me. lol

If you feel that the green team is better, no one stops you. Everybody has the right to learn from their own mistakes. Just don't be disappointed, when you'll see similar problems. Maybe then you can try Intel as well.

I RMA'd the 7870 Hawk, and they sent me a replacement card. Installed it and catalyst 13.9. Played BFBC2 for an hour and still have artifacts.
