1. Remove express install completely. Users can have the component selection windows untouched if they want to.
2. Don't proceed until a main component has been selected. Don't proceed if there's no main component available.
Main component: Depends on the package type. Display drivers for standard CCC download, SB drivers for chipset downloads etc.
This way we could avoid the case, that happens so often:
People use a package that is incompatible with their system. They launch the installer, click express install. It installs/updates CIM only, skips the incompatible components silently. At the end, the user is greeted with a big green check mark and "success" sign.
Then they come to these forums to complain that the update did nothing. I wonder why...
