I recently updated my drivers and now when I go on my Vision Engine Control Center all of the default presets are gone. I can't find out how to get them back, I have tried reinstalling multiple times. If anyone can help me get them back or just tell me what the default presests were so I can put them in myself I would appreciate it. I used to use these all of the time, but now I can't.

NOTE:

If you don't know what I am talking about it looks like this (area outlined in red) ...

There used to be presets there labeled; Air Traveler, Battery Saver, Gaming, Movie, and Web Browsing.

Again, any help is appreciated.

Thank You!

CCC has no presets by default, so those probably came from the laptop drivers. I suggest you take a look at those. Maybe you uninstalled an OEM power management software?

Are you sure they don't come with defaults, or at least they don't anymore, because I found this pdf from amd when I was googling my question? It talks about various things to improve your computer with amd. In it there is a section that walks you through how to create your own presets and it contains a picture showing the exact presets I had before. I Appreciate your reply!

I've never seen those, though I've been using CCC from the very beginning, I even used the good old ATi Control Panel.

This still must be some laptop/APU specific option. Do you have a laptop? If you do, are you using OEM drivers?

You indicate you updated your drivers, but where did you. I'm going to assume that you did from the AMD website. That you installed over the top of your old drivers. One thing I noted when installing a fresh copy of CCC package is you will now have Catalyst Control Center versus having the Vision Control Center. Your best bet is to go back to the original package you updated and re-install it. Look at what settings they have and then when you update, you can then back in. That or stay with the manufacture of your machines drivers to avoid this issue.

And yes I have that same pretty pdf of the vision control center too.

Okay so I'm guessing I might have installed the wrong drivers. Here is my processor.

Processor: AMD A8-5500 APU with Radeon HD Graphics 3.20 GHz

Now I am having trouble finding out what graphics card I have. When I purchased this PC from Best Buy, it said the graphics card was an AMD 7000M HD series, however, when I run the DirectX Diagnostic Tool it says my graphics card is an AMD 6400M series.

I am also on a desktop computer. I was under the impression that I would need AMD Vision Engine Control Center instead of the CCC because I am using an A8 Vision processor.

If any of you could lead me in the right direction in terms of drivers, then that would be amazing!

There is one more thing I forgot to add. When I downloaded the program from AMD that finds your graphics card and its drivers for you, it also said that I had a 6400M graphics card but when it would try to install those drivers it failed because it said that the drivers were not compatible with the graphics card I was running.

You need to go to the vendor site for your machine, The 6400 is a OEM card and you will need there drivers they have. In most cases it will not be as current as those here on the AMD site but they are designed for your setup.

Great news, I went on Asus' website and successfully found the model of my computer, as well as the Drivers page. Here is what it looks like.

As you can see there are multiple drivers here. I am assuming I only need the chipset driver, but last time I made an assumption it didn't end too well. So is there anything else on this page that you think I would need? I appreciate your help so far!

You need to un-install the current drivers you have and grab the most recent VGA driver. Install that and see if that restores those options.

Okay so I uninstalled everything and installed that driver and everything is there except the presets! I guess it isn't that big of a deal but, I wish I knew why I can't seem to get them back even though they are supposed to come with Vision Engine Control Center!

So does it say Vision Control or Catalyst Control?

This is what it looks like, it says Vision Engine. I did notice that there is now Asus branding at the top left.

Alright I was able to find out more about my situation! It turns out that while the presets do not show in the Catalyst, they still show in my Windows 8 Start Menu.

When I click on them it doesn't seem to change anything, however, it does ask for administrator permisions and I allowed it. Hopefully this is a step closer to my solution.
