I have an Acer Predator G3610 and according to my list of devices in Windows 7 my graphics card is a Radeon HD 7670, a card which only seems to be available to this computer alone or another version for laptops named 7670M.

The latest driver according to Acer's driver page is from 2012/07/30. Over a year old and even when I start Catalyst Control Center that I got from that driver it says that it's from 2011.

Now, I can't seem to use any drivers from AMD.com, even when I am selecting HD 7xxx in the driver list. The installer just encounters saying something like: "The package could not be installed."

I just find this unaccaptable. I am having problems running Deus Ex: Human Revolution for god's sake. I want updated drivers for my card now and please don't point me to some crappy OEM drivers which are outdated. If it is a graphics card from AMD your drivers should surely work on my card in some way!

Problem is, it's the OEMs not letting AMD support the mobility cards, not the other way around. Yes, it's bad, maybe unaccepable, but you'll have to talk to Acer about it. Reading the sticky in the laptop section will help you understand why.

You shouldn't have any problems installing/updating that card...just don't use the 'auto detect and install'. There is a post on uninstall/install drivers in the FAQ section. Get your drivers from here >

This is a desktop computer though.

I get this error with every driver I try to install, except from the drivers on Acer's page:

"Application install: Install package failure"

There has to be some way to get around it. Especially since the 7670 is supposedly a rebranded 6670.

Well, I admit I didn't think about Acer making desktop computers. And you interpreted the error massage incorrectly in the OP.

Now I see what's wrong. Install package failure happens if driver sweeper (or something else) fu******s up the configuration of the windows installer component in windows.

The only known solution is reinstalling the broken system and learning that you really shouldn't use 3rd party system cleaners unless you're trying to recover an already broken OS.

1. Reinstall Windows.

2. Install 13.11.

It'll work.
