-XFX R7870 core edition 2GB DDR5.

AMD Catalyst Driver Version, and Driver History
-No previously installed driver.

Operating System
-First time the problem appeared was with Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit, now the second time is with Windows 7 Professional N 64bit.

Issue Details
-In the middle of the CCC installation a window pops in saying "Application install: install package failure", I've already tried the common troubleshooting guide and several other methods.

Motherboard or System Make & Model
-Gigabyte 970A-D3.

Power Supply

-Does it matter?

Display Device(s) and Connection(s) Used
-An old viewsonic LCD 22" screen.
-PCI cable.

CPU Details
-AMD FX-6100 6-cores 3.3GHz.
-No OC.

Motherboard BIOS Version
-BIOS Version/Date Award Software International, Inc. F11, 18/10/2012.

System Memory Type & Amount

-Kingston 8gb.

Additional Hardware
-60gb OCZ SSD.

Additional Details
-No anti-virus checks done.
-No hardware checks done.

As it was stated in the millions of other threads about the issue, this error occures if the configuration or the windows installer is corrupt. This is a windows component and its database is not designed to be tampered with outside the service. That's why apllications like driver sweeper and its relatives can f. it up.

The only known solution is reinstalling the OS the moment. Don't use cleaners and you don't have to do it often.

I'm going to try reinstalling windows again and see if it gets fixed. One thing is for sure: I'm never ever going to buy an ATI GPU again...

It's always hard to admit our own failure. As I said, don't use cleaners and you'll be fine.

I never used any sort of driver cleaner before getting the error. I've reinstalled windows again, this time I didn't even update and directly installed the drivers but the problem still persists.
