I've been given a PC that hasn't been used for a while. It has two HD 5870 GPUs installed. I've put a fresh copy of Win 7 on it.

Upon bootup it doesn't have the drivers installed (of course). However when I use the AMD auto-detect driver install it goes through fine but upon reboot I get a blank screen immediately.

It's not because of on board graphics because I don't have onboard graphics, I'm only using the DVI port in one of the 5870s.

I was hoping to find a driver purely for the 5870 and not use the auto-detect software as I thought this could be the reason.

Does anyone have a link to said driver or are you able to suggest something else?

Specs that may be useful:

2xHD 5870 GPUs

Windows 7 x64

Can't check the PSU model right now but it's 850W and this rig has been used before without any issues just not for a while.

Many thanks.

You don't mention CF and mention only using one monitor. I suggest you remove the secondary card. It only produces heat and consumes electricity without doing anything useful.

I'm still using Cat 12.10 for my 5870. There are no issues.

Like Eydee suggests, pull out one of the cards and try with just one. Then swap them just to make sure both work.

Once you're sure they both work then you can consider crossfire.
