I bought a Sapphire R9 270 Dual-X 2GB with Boost & OC today and when i installed the latest drivers from the website (13.11 beta 9.5) i got a black screen after restarting or the screen just freezes on Windows startup, even though the system runs fine.

Im using

Windows 7 x64,

i5 3570k,

ASRock Z77 Extreme4,

LCPower LC6600 600w power supply,

Samsung 840 120GB SSD.

I tried disabling the iGPU on the i5 3570k, i also tried the drivers from the disk, tried both a dvi and an hdmi output/monitor, uninstalled Virtu MVP, nothing helped.

It seems to be related to something on my specific configuration because the drivers work fine on another system.

This suggests you might have a BIOS issue. Contact the manufacturer of your video card and ask for an update.

I actually resolved it by installing Windows 8.1. The card works fine now with 13.11 beta9.5, although still doesnt have very good performance, especially with BF4 which is bundled with it.

If i do get more issues, i'll have to wait for them to release the revised BIOS for the 270 as well.

Currently, im just waiting for another updated driver with improved performance.

To other people having this issue, try reinstalling your OS or switching to Windows 8.1 before updating your BIOS.
