My card often has an issue where, when the computer has been asleep, I cannot bring the monitor out of sleep and often have to hard restart the computer, potentially losing data in the process. This is, apparently a well-known issue with many AMD cards and have found a lot of posts about it on many forums/sites, including the well-regarded Anandtech community.

I've had this issue for ages, as have MANY other people on many different HD cards (mostly HD6000 and HD7000 series) with many different recent driver versions. It is back with 13.12 and worse for me and is VERY frustrating. How has this issue not been completely fixed yet...?

Because like the "huge mouse cursor" issue it does not affect everybody. If 13.12 has issues with you, then use a previous set.

No, it doesn't affect everybody...but it also doesn't just affect me, it affects hundreds of people (do a Google search) and has been doing so through ALL the more recent driver updates...all the Beta updates, 13.11, 13.12.

I could go back to the 13.11 beta drivers as it is worse on 13.12, yes, but it was happening on all versions of the 13.11 drivers as well, just not quite as much. It is a well-known issue with a number of the HD cards.

Turn off sleep, hibernation etc. crap if you're not using a laptop. If you are, you need to use manufacturer drivers and complain to the manufacturer if you have issues.

HD 7970 Catalyst 13.12

Dual monitor one connected via dvi and other dvi to mini dp

Windows 7 64bit

I did not have this problem before updating drivers to 13.11.  Come back to computer after inactivity and it won't come back to life.  Computer appears to be on: fans spinning, lights on, etc.  Keyboard or mouse won't bring monitors out of sleep.  Keyboard not working - numlock or capslock do nothing.  Only option is hard reset.

Workaround:  Created custom power plan and disabled all power management features, including setting "Turn off display after" to "Never" and problem went away.

Had previously tried turning everything off but  "Turn off display after" to "Never" with no luck.  Had previously updated all other drivers with no luck.

I don't care much about my carbon footprint but I would like to save a little money on electricity.  Hopefully AMD will fix this problem.  There seems to be enough people having the problem that it isn't random or related to something other than the video card drivers.
