I currently have two cards installed, a Radeon HD 5850 as primary and an old Radeon HD 4350. I need the second card for use of a 3rd screen. The 5850 alone can technically support 3 screens but one of the screens has to be conncted via the Display port and my screens arn't compaible. I do not want to use the 3 sreens for gaming, only my central one.
I have been able to get all 3 working properly by installing Catalyst Control Center 13.1 and the 8.9 Display drivers (for the 4350) and the 13.2 Display Drivers (for the 5850).
The problem occurs when I try to run anything using Direct3D, or possibly anything using DirectX, I'm not too sure. The program that depends on DirectX support just crashes, or hangs in the Task Manager. So no games, no 3D graphics programs, and not even the Windows Magnifier will work.
Has anybody been able to get an older DirectX 10.1 graphics card working along side a DirectX 11 card? I don't want them working together, for exemple I only want games and programs like 3DS Max to run through the 5850, I only want the older 4350 as an extention to the desktop for web browsing, etc.
Any information on this subject would be highly appreciated as I find myself at a dead end.
Thanks in advance,
