After installing the recent AMD 13.12 drivers for my MSI Twin Frozr 7870 it began to have multiple symptoms that don't go away with uninstallation of the drivers. After I did a fresh install of Windows 7 the card worked fine on the supplied drivers from Microsoft and immediately after installing the 13.12 drivers it locked-up and started artifacting before it could restart.

The symptoms include Graphics lock up with Vertical lines; this happens when ever usually with in 10 seconds after hitting the desktop and the lines match whatever colour the was most dominate on the screen during the crash. You can still here sound from Skype or the game you are playing until the computer hard resets itself.

It also displays thick solid red vertical lines while booting the BIOS and posting then as it loads the "Windows starting" screen horizontal lines of artifacting pixels are displayed going to the right of the screen off of any contrasting edges.

I have tried going back to a previous version of AMD's drivers but it would not detect a graphics card.

I have ruled out my power supply, RAM and Motherboard.

I am currently using my on-board graphics, it is a pain is the ass and I would really like my graphics card back in my computer.

Mine only did this after the 13.12 Drivers, never before that. As soon as I installed them everything went to sh*t.

Did yours do this after installing the drivers or just started doing it randomly ?

no it wasnt random, but it was really annoying because i ws unable to watch any netflix videos whatsoever, Whats strange is that the artifacting only affecting my main monitor where as the second monitor was just fine and i could open and use programs normally on it, the artifacting looked like static (like on the tube TV's). I am now on the 13.11 beta 9.5 drivers, everything seems to be working just fine and my performance increased slightly in some games, i am desperately waiting for amd to release the mantle dirver already. so just go to the beta drivers until ADM releases mantle

As of yesterday, my father's work computer with a XFX 7870 has done the same things as mine after he installed the 13.12 drivers. He is a computer software and hardware developer. He cannot install the previous drivers due to CCC installer not being able to detect the card. He had to do a fresh OS install and is now having to use the supplied drivers Windows provides.

Does AMD's Specialists even read these forums? Is there a way to email there support department directly?

I am switching to Intel/Nvidia with my new build in summer this is ridiulous.

He's a hardware and software developer and didn't know how to use System Restore?

System restore is something like UAC. Should be turned off right after OS install and never touched again. Probably he is a developer and knows this exactly.
