Hello,

I was excited to install the Catalyst 14.1 beta drivers this morning, but now to my dismay I realise that I can no longer play any game with crossfire enabled, because my computer instantly freezes. I did not have this problem before either.

Crossfire also doesn't work in Mantle, freezing my entire PC instead.

Does anyone know a fix or have it too?

Specs:

Intel 2500k @ 4.6 ghz, MSI Z68A-GD65(g3), 16GB GSkill DDR3 1600mhz RAM, 2x AMD R9 290 GPUs, Asus Xonar Essence ST Soundcard, Sennheiser HD 598 Headphones, Corsair AX850 PSU, Coolermaster HAF X Case

Thankfully my PC still runs fine into Windows 8, but anything else with the 14.1 drivers crashes.  Just another bad driver from AMD.  Either wait it out or roll back to 13.12 is what I think I will do.

I've been having crossfire issues with my 2x R9 290's, too. BF4 has blue screened a few times with Mantle, I'm only gaining about 10 frames more with Crossfire enabled on it, too. I'm still testing some other games, but I know that Tomb Raider just doesn't give me any higher FPS for being in corssfire at all now.

I've just read through them again, I can't see anything of the sort - in fact it actually added support for enhanced crossfire frame pacing. I might have missed something obvious, of course.

Working great here on BF4,crossfire works like a champ, even with mantle enabled.Even though the game was fine with 13.11 drivers, these for some reason almost seem smoother.

If you do not know what BETA means look it up. Stick to WHQL drivers before  you complain of bad drivers. This is a beta, not an actual release. Instead of complaining do what beta testers are supposed to do. Submit a bug report through the reporting tool on the BETA DRIVER's page. This helps them fix it so ACTUAL releases are as bug free as possible. Complaining in the forums isn't going to do anything but show off the fact that you have no right to be downloading BETA drivers.

Lucky you, I got a decrease in frames on BF4 with Mantle. But I am running 7950s. But with DX11 things seems quite a bit smoother, and I have a slight increase in frames, go figure. Hopefully the Mantle side of things will clear with the WHQL.

Later this month... right AMD.

Same bloody ones as mine. (Guess I should have checked your Sig) Wonder if it is the Mobo or CPU difference that is making mine run like crap.

What firmware are you running on your 7950s?

290x in crossfire, BF4 just freezes, have to reset the PC.

Works fine with single card, and really like it, seems much nicer and smoother graphics to my eye, but get worse fps because of single card, i also play in eyefinity.

The most annoying thing for me though, and was hoping to see a fix for, is the audio in crossfire crackling badly with vsynq enabled, this isn't usually an issue, but for some games, like skyrim for example, you can't diasble it.

Do they work well on the 13.12 drivers? If so I would suggest using those and waiting for either a new version of the Beta and trying again, or wait for the WHQL version.

I just turned off Crossfire and ran BF4 without and then with Mantle. There is a 15fps increase with Mantle, but as soon as I turn on Crossfire I get worse perfomance with Mantle... very very odd.

As for Vsync and Skyrim... Turn it off, I did and seem to get amazing frames and rarely get tearing.

yeah I think only the 290 series cards in crossfire have this problem with the freezing, although they are supposed to be supported. Literally not a single game worked for me without freezing my entire PC with catalyst 14.1

Did you use DDU on it prior to installing 14.1 Beta?

Already went back to 13.12 drivers, it runs fine

Was under the impression if you disabled vysynq on skyrim it messed with it a lot, things going flying, bodys, cups, plates etc

I've had no issues since a few patches back. I always run with Vsync disabled, otherwise I seem to get some strange framerate fluxes.

Same here.

BF4, Mantle crashes after a few seconds and have very, very low perf.
I read CF and Eyefinity (I'm running a 4K screen) have some issues, so I went for DX11. Same story and after trying another few games I can tell allmost every game crashes, dx10, dx11 etc., only dx9-ones work, but like it said without CF.

I can understand mantle should take some time, but I'm expecting some decent dx behavior by now.
cat. 13.11 beta V9.4 t/m 13.12 have all v-sync issues, but it looks no one is listening.

I have Crossfire Working in Mantle on BF4. 2x Radeon 290s.

I had to disable ULPS and powerplay with MSI Afterburner, then play BF4 in Borderless Mode. No crashes has been working stable.

On the performance graph in MSI Afterburner on the other monitor it does show both GPU's being utilized.
