Seeing that CCC is currently at 14.1 Beta, I'm thinking about updating my ICEQ X2 AMD Radeon 7950 3GB graphics card.

I'm at 13.4 now, but i've noticed that some of my games say that my graphics card drivers need to be updated in order for some of the games to work right.

Could someone give me a tried and true, sure fire way to update my drivers, without having any issues?  Also, I noticed on my manufacturers website (HIS Digital) that they have........ ATI Catalyst: 13.4 (ref. no: 1307)     as their latest update for my card.  Any thoughts on what I should do?

Thanks

Well, first off using generic drivers may or may not work for you. However, with desktop cards you are normally pretty safe with generic drivers.

Anytime you update any drivers you have to be ready for errors, especially if moving to a BETA release like 14.1. I would recommend staying with WHQL drivers only if you want the best chance of a trouble free driver upgrade.

First make sure you remove ALL traces of the previous driver with a program like Display Driver Uninstaller or similar program. After fully uninstalling and restarting your system install the latest WHQL driver from AMD. Then you should be good to go. If you want to venture into the Beta drivers, know that you may have sparatic functionality, degraded performance or even full system hangs and crashes. Normally I find AMD Betas fairly good, but I do not recommend the 14.1 Beta (in it's current form from Feb 1, 2014)

For the record, one of my other systems is running a single HIS 7950 Reference card and it runs very well off the current WHQL and on the current Beta as well.
