Try a 'custom' install...that will give you the choice of installing / or not AMD's "Raptr" or not. Do you have a anti-virus/anti-malware/anti-ads/anti anything running while you are trying to install the drivers? I would uninstall "All AMD software" from the 'uninstall a program' in your computer control panel. Find 'AMD installer' and 'Express Uninstall all software including the installer'. Reboot. Try to install again.

I do have Norton Internet Security. Although when I go to "uninstall a program" in control panel I dont have any AMD software installed, I figure that is because the amd installer manager failed to install when I get the error. Should I try to download and install the AMD Catalyst 14.1 Beta Driver for Windows Operating System? or if you have any other suggetion it would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Norton is one of the worst. Disable all instances of it. Check task manager to make sure. Then try to install the driver suite. Post back if that doesn't work.

I would stay away from the Beta drivers right now...try the 13.4 WHQL drivers from here.

Before I disable norton and try to install again I was wondering if the event log I posted and particularly the error message sheds any light on the issue I'm having...

"<Data>Product: AMD Catalyst Install Manager -- Error 1723.There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A DLL required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. Action SetInstallDir, entry: SetInstallDir, library: C:\windows\Installer\MSIE12F.tmp</Data>"

Is there anything there can give a clue why the manager is failing to install?

I don't know...disable it and try to install. It could have been blocked by Norton. You can go offline if your worried.

I am having this exact same issue while attempting to install the drivers for R7 260x.

I dont have norton, but my windows security is on. Also, when I try to custom install, there is no check box for raptr.

Oh, and my device manager wont read the video card even though I can boot to BIOS through its DVI output :/

Most programs have the crevat "disable anti-virus during install" so...

Do you have a anti-virus/anti-malware/anti-ads/anti anything running while you are trying to install the drivers? Is your firewall blocking the program? I would uninstall "All AMD software" from the 'uninstall a program' in your computer control panel. Find 'AMD installer' and 'Express Uninstall all software including the installer'. Reboot. I also tried to follow the suggestion and I still get the same "install package failure" error

After trying everything I could find related to AMD, I tried the Microsoft route.  From the Device Manager, I expanded the 'Display adapters' section and updated the VGA driver.  It identified the new non-VGA video card (mine is an HD 6450), found the correct driver, and installed it.I rebooted and everthing appears to be working fine!  (At least I can use the higher DMI resolutions.  I haven't yet tried HDMI.)

I replied too soon After I got my initial driver to work to enable the DMI display, I attempted to install 13-12_win7_win8_64_dd_ccc_whql.exe to get the most recent (non-beta) driver and the HDMI audio driver but I still get the "AMD catalyst install manager Application Install: install package failure!" error. At least I can view through DMI so it was progress.
