Just posting for the gripe, as I currently don't have a Catalyst Control Centre [nor any other AMD/ATi software aside from a rollback of drivers - which I wasn't informed about. Thanks, Windows!]

It would have been nice to have been told of an UNWARRANTED failure - as the installer usually does.

I suppose it's better than the usual BSoD.

I suppose it's better than when Windows simply hangs before log in, not completing start up.

Forced to use System Restore - as MS removed all our repair functionality in anything after XP - which is soon to be relegated to the annals.

[I have Xp Pro. x64 on one machine. If the general public were allowed to know about this, no-one would have ever bought Vista - which is why, I guess, it was buried. It's awesome, btw: Small footprint, 64bit addressing, tools for fixing still present, unbroken desktop search. Only downside is no hibernate functionality with more than 4GB RAM. don't believe any who say it's not stable. It is. That was probably MS propaganda.]

Under Win7, even SFC doesn't work correctly: "Yeah, your files are corrupt ["Yes, I know! which is why I ran you!"] but I'm not gonna do anything about it. I'm not even gonna bother looking on your install media, even though that is logically where I'll always be able to get uncorrupt replacements from, no matter what condition your HDD is in"

Whenever I see one of those MS virus files known as ".NET" or "Visual..." I know I'm in the cr4p and my computer's going down.

I see AMD/ATi are using these, which is why I'm not surprised I have problems.

Though it does beg the question, "Why?"
