I just bought the R9 270X card from Newegg (SAPPHIRE|100364TXSR R9 270X R).  I downloaded the recommended drivers from the AMD site using the auto detect program (it downloaded 13-12_winvista_64_dd_ccc_whql.exe).  The problem is that my graphics card has a PCI DEVID of 6810 which is not covered in the Vista 64 driver INF file in the download and not recognized by Catalyst Install Manager.  I checked the Win7/Win8 driver and this DEVID is listed as a supported DEVID.  Can/will the Vista drivers be updated to support my card? This is actually the 2nd card I've tried from Newegg with the same problem, it seems like the Vista drivers aren't being updated with newer GPUs like the Win7/Win8 drivers are.

Thanks.

I have verified and can confirm that the R9 270X is not supported under Windows Vista.

There are no plans to release Vista drivers for this product.

Thanks for the info and the quick reply.  Sapphire is advertising that this product is supported under Vista, so there are likely to be more people that have trouble with this.

Can you provide a list of R9 cards that *are* supported under Vista?  (Or point me to such a list?)  I would still like to upgrade to an R9 GPU if I can.  When I examined the INF file I did see many PCI DEVIDs supported that were referred to as "R9 200 series", but I don't know how to correlate them to a specific product name.  I don't want to continue the buy-try-return loop that I've been in the past few weeks.

Thank you.

You'd be better off upgrading to Windows 7. Although it is pretty much the same OS, you won't have to worry about drivers.
