AMD Catalyst Mobility is a notebook reference graphics driver with limited support for system vendor specific features. When used with Windows Vista or Windows 7, the user experience may be limited or compromised. The Installation Verification Software is designed to prevent driver download on certain notebook products. This is to help protect against the installing of drivers that may disable features or functionality provided by the system manufacturer. In such a situation, it is recommended to revert back to the driver provided by your system vendor for your specific platform. Please contact your system vendor for the most recent drivers for your notebook.

I've been using Catalyst 14.4 Beta for 10 days now and I can't say I see any differences from 13.11. Then again I don't use Crossfire or games with Mantle.

Tested it in BF 4 with Mantle CFXd and noticed no appreciable difference.

Worse performance so far in ARMA 3 in CFX than with single card.

No change in performance in Black Flag.

Skyrim working fine...as expected.

Is it really that difficult for them to check for the presence of dot net and offer to download it if needed?

These drivers are even more disgustingly large than usual.

If dot net is just used for bloatalyst bloat-ware then perhaps deselecting that should remove the requirement. Or they could use QT for bloatalyst, is that what they use with their linux control panel?

You can elect to not install parts of the download...

I am very well aware of that. Selecting not to install some part of it doesn't magically make the initial download smaller. I don't want to have to download dot net 4.5 since it is a) built into my OS, b) quite possibly part of the countless previous driver/games downloads I have saved and c) entrely possible for them to detect during driver install and offer to download.

Yeah...you are absolutely right...that extra 982kb could really burden your system!  Its like one too many phone numbers in your phone!

The bug I describe here is still present in this release:

I have the same problem and found a way to reproduce it. I have a R9 270 and it happens with both 14.2 and 14.3 when using Firefox.

If you start this benchmark on one tab:

http://ie.microsoft.com/testdrive/performance/fishbowl/

And on another tab you start playing some music from Youtube, in a variable (short) time you'll get a BSOD and have to force reset. I tried to submit this to AMD. I hope they're aware.

I had to surrender and use Chrome. With this one no problems.

If you need mantle, why don't you just buy a console?

What do you mean?  Can't get your game to run properly?  Be specific.

If you have an HD 7870 or 7950/70, why do you even care about Mantle unless you have some old 2ghz dual core?

.NET 4.5 is 50MB (MSI installer), CCC is 75.2MB (unexpanded installer files), while the display drivers folder is 286MB. Don't forget that beta drivers include both x64 and x86 files so they are larger than they would be otherwise. It is a pain for people on limited bandwidth or data allowances.

Since you would have a previous dot.net version already to function in Windows actually the 4.5 framework would be all you need at 982kb.

All of 47-50Mb, huh?  OK... am going to wipe a little dust off my SSD so that I'll have more room to accomodate this huge download.

Solution to the +50MB download size: Use your computer to download it, not your mobile phone.
