Radeon HD 7950 Royal King

No Overclocking done

AMD Catalyst Driver Version, and Driver History
- Here is the strange part, my device manager says that i have the AMD r9 200 series. I cannot uninstall this driver not reinstall the HD7xxx driver.

Operating System
- Windows 8.1 64bit

Issue Details

- The problem, Today i bought Company of heroes 2, the beta worked in the past so there shouldn't be any problems (so i thought). after installing the game i started it up. sadly after 5 seconds of black screen the game crashes.

- There was an error log saying my video card had crashed (this hasn't happen to my before), saying i should update my driver. after downloading the latest driver and trying to install it my screen turned black ( my screen said there was no signal, after waiting for more then 30 minutes there was no change). I tried to do it again, same results.

- so i thought let's start from scratch, i will uninstall the driver.... same result, after 5 seconds my screen turned black

- after rebooting my pc there where no changes in software.

On device manager:

Right click display adapter, uninstall, delete driver software, scan for hardware changes (the tab is on top).

Repeat if necessary.

Only when you are left with the basic vga driver, make sure to clean install the latest catalyst software.

Thanks for your reply!

I have done as you said. it took about 5 uninstalls and 2 reboots before everything was removed.

I installed my driver again (the latest software) and it now indeed gives the correct discription (HD 7900)

During the installation i did get a error report saying that the installation of the driver failed because there was still some old software left...

Haha, thanks!

Something strange is going on, now when i remove the driver like you instructed, and get 2 drivers remainging: inter (R) HD Graphics 4000 and microsoft basic display adapter.

but after about 10 seonds, the screen goes black and behold, the 7900 driver is back again. (truth be told, i do not know if this is supose to happen, but then again, that's why i'm here )

I did try to start up CoH2 again just to see what happens, now it gives the error that my driver is to old...

Is there a way to mannualy be certain that everything is removed ?

That's because windows automatically searches, downloads and installs a driver for you.

Disable this feature or disconnect from internet everytime you manually clean install a catalyst software of your choosing.

See this:

Well... i got the correct driver installed and it is finnally saying i got the latest driver updates!

Thanks for that!!!

Sadly enough, CoH2 still wont work for me (you can't have it all i suppose)

I have send a report to Sega techsupport, maybe they can solve this problem, it seems it's only their game that is affected.
