Still mouse pointer artifacts in Football Manager 2014 as introduced and reported in 14.6, 14.4 is fine. Several people made a bug report about this with driver 14.6, sad to still see it in this RC.

Can one of the AMD guys please explain what this actually means, both literally and performance wise?

Known Issues

  • Running Watch Dogs with a R9 280X CrossFire configuration may result in the application running in CrossFire software compositing mode
Also, is there any way to know if you are or not?
I'm running dual 7950's which as I understand it are the same thing as 280X so I'm assuming this also applies to my setup...
cheers

I can confirm this driver hinders performance in several games, titanfall suffers a 20% drop in performance and stutters, suggest rolling back to 13.12

That may be a great idea other than the fact that it is NOT.  Using a 2013 driver set to play a 2014 game is not recommended.  Attend to the other issues with your (no information whatsoever) build...first.

Updated from 14.6beta to 14.7 RC. With this driver i got artifacting in GTA San Andreas 3-5 min flying under the town on jet - and hello vietnam! road and building textures on the sky, lines, etc. Videocard - HD7850, windows 7 x64. On 14.4-14.6 all is fine (rolled back)
P.S. Clean install of 14.7 RC - same situation. Clean install to clean OS - same situation.

Is there some reason why any time I post on this forum asking for a response from AMD I get nothing...???

Did you report it to AMD on the proper form?

The Fact that it's a peer to peer forum might have something to do with it.

I would have if it was a bug submission.
It's a question about their release notes, where should I ask about that?
A moderator, named Ray@AMD so presumably actually works for AMD, saw fit to respond about the version number displaying incorrectly so why not this?
I've been starting to wonder if CrossFire software compositing mode isn't a workaround that they don't really want anyone to know how common it is.
Try to find anywhere in the internets that tells you what it means, I can't, yet they put it in their release notes with no explanation...

For the life of me I can't get these installed, same problem with 14.6 - but only on Windows 7 x64.

I have a dual-boot system with Win 8.1 Update 1 x64, and Win7 X64. I primarily use Win7 still, especially for gaming as I find when games are CPU limited (and with a A8-5600k they can be), Win7 seems to perform a little better. Have a 270X 2GB GPU.

These install fine on Win8, but since 14.6 I haven't been able to get anything newer than 14.4 installed on Win7. As such, I actually recently cleanly installed my Win7 partition just a couple of weeks ago, and still the same problem.

I've done the whole uninstall just driver & catalyst, reboot into safe mode, run Driver Cleaner etc routine.  All components of the suite install fine except the driver, I just get an error in the log at the end and it will never install, no matter if I clean uninstall every AMD driver on my system and start with just the 14.7 catalyst.

Relevant system specs:

A8-5600k APU on MSI FM2-A75IA-E53 motherboard, latest bios + chipset drivers from MSI installed

8GB ram

270X 2GB

No AV running, as mentioned this is an extremely clean system. The 14.4's always install fine.

There a detailed error log written somewhere that I could post here?

I'm so sorry, how dare I take offence at you telling me what I have done and I most certainly deserve to have my post deleted, oh great one!
So you can be rude but not anyone else, got it.

You didn't try too hard to provide a link to a legitimate answer...
What the hell is wrong with moderators these days...?

ok, so you link to the same likely incorrect answer ( ...which I'd reasoned out in the post you deleted... ) and call me names.

Who the hell let you become a moderator, seriously...?

Man you have issues. You asked what that statement meant...I gave you the link to the answer

"-Running Watch Dogs with a R9 280X CrossFire configuration may result in the application running in CrossFire software compositing mode.

This shouldn't be anything to worry about, it basically means your in a Crossfire setup but only using one card, there are more things to it but that is in short."

So go pound sand somewhere else. And I am not a moderator.

Have a nice day

So just convenient timing that my post got deleted when you replied...
Have you stopped to consider that that answer makes no sense.
How can it be CrossFire anything mode if it's only using one card?
I have issues with poor information being passed around and repeated as fact.

I've allowed this more laxity that it deserves. Please stop the flaming or I'll be forced to lock the thread.
