I have upgraded my system today and re-installed windows 7 64bit (clean install).

My graphics card (Sapphire HD8500) was not auto-detected by windows and is used as standard VGA adapter. Both monitors are connected to it and display the same content.

When i try to install CCC i get the error "Application Install: install package failure". I have tried the following versions so far: 11.12, 13.12c, 14.4, 14.7rc1

I searched for this error message, it seems to be quite common, but none of the tips (re-install any of the .net packages, or vc++) has changed anything.

.net 4.5 is installed, windows update finds no more updates, i have installed vc++ 2010 and 2008.

The error message is quite nondescriptive and does not give me any clues.

In the windows event view i see the following message:

"Product: AMD Catalyst Install Manager -- Error 1723.There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A DLL required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. Action SetInstallDir, entry: SetInstallDir, library: C:\Windows\Installer\MSIDDC7.tmp"

After spending several hours trying everything suggested in more or less reputable forums i am getting a bit annoyed. I would like to get back to my 2 monitor setup with different resultions and would not mind a bit of gaming performance as well...

Any ideas?

Use the uninstall/install guide found in the FAQ section.

I did that, but to no avail. I even ran DDU, despite not having any drivers installed previously. As already stated Windows Update is up2date, antivirus is not even installed yet and .net is on the latest version.

The guide simply states "install the new driver suite", this step fails.

However, i have succeeded in installing the driver itself by selecting the AMD folder from device manager when going for "update drivers". I guess i don't need the control center anyhow, but am still a bit distressed by not being able to install it at all on a fresh machine.

As far as I know the HD 8000 series is OEM-only, so you need to use OEM drivers.
