I know there are a lot of posts already regarding bsod's ; in my case though I can't startup windows . I thought its hardware related (hd6850) but strangely enough when I disable the ati drivers and run the windows generic ones , the pc works perfectly .
I tried a fresh windows install and I messed around with the driver and installed different versions of it. The problem remains , as soon as I install anything else than windows generic , I end up with a bsod at startup. Can anyone help me?

Stupid question here...lol...

Did you fully update Windows ( please state what version of Windows you have) after reformatting? It can take a while, and a few passes to get it all.

Also....you should really post your full specs. The more information you give us, the better we can help.

BSOD's usually give you the culprit in its error messages, did you happen to write it down? Then how did the bsods started? Did the pc work fine for years and then suddenly started doing this or you just obtained it? A thing that might help.. run Driver Fusion in safe mode and delete all existing bits of older drivers, boot normally and install the preferred drives again.

I know I didnt give much information about my situation , but after seeing so many posts about atikmpag.sys bsod , I tought its something you guys already know about . I even formatted my drive completely and installed a fresh ati driver and it didnt seem to do much . I reinstalled the same windows as before (ultimate 7/64 sp1) and my pc worked fine for a long time before this happened . I tried to remove the driver and put older versions of it but it seems like as soon as I try to startup with any ati driver installed and atikmpag.sys is on my pc , blue screen happens. So now i uninstalled it and im running with the generic windows driver , which is the only way it works . My question is , could my graphic card have hardware issues anyway ,even though I manage to use it like this?
