My XFX HD5870 works stably with the 14.4 drivers, having problems with getting videos in Green Browser.

Tried using all versions of drivers 14.6 and 14.7 RC1, but always ends up crashing X64 Windows 8.1. In memory dump that always displays the last application is executed atikmdag.sys.

Need to update the drivers to improve the stability of the videos that work much better in the current versions. The problem is that these are disturbing crashes in OS without explanation, since the 14.4 does not have this instability.

I see several reports beyond my people with having the same problem. I had to return to the 14.4 does not see my data to go into the abyss of no return.

1. Download and install GPU Tweak.

2. Start GPU tweak.

3. Move mouse cursor over 3D Icon on the top left of GPU Tweak. Once you hover over the icon, a button appears for 3D|2D. Select 2D switching setting to gain access to 2D settings.

4. Set your GPU Clock to 430Mhz, Memory Clock to 900Mhz, Fan Speed to whatever speed you'd like and hit apply.

5. Save the new 2D settings to a profile and make sure you also select that profile everytime you reboot or restart windows..

Thanks for your help Lurquer!
But this is a palliative.
AMD needs to identify and correct this anomaly. I am with version 14.4, but I felt that I lost a lot compared to 14.6 and 14.7.
If AMD has not released new stable drivers is still fair for this problem as it stands which is annoying. Out the glitches on the screen in 2D mode in Windows.

That why they are called beta drivers. They are not WHQL. They are offered "as is". Use the drivers that work for you. On the other hand, most people have no issue at all with them. The people who do have issues should send in a "ISSUE REPORT FORM" so the AMD driver team can look in to it. Talking about it on a gaming forum doesn't get anything done.

Hi Lurquer!

I agree with arturaragao. We appreciate your help but we should stop building rivers under the bridges. This is not the first time that a beta driver from AMD causes this problem. In my opinion AMD should stop releasing a beta driver until it can be trusted enough.

Another possibility...all of the beta drivers require you to remove the existing drivers before installing the new ones. If you tried to install the betas over the 14.4 this could be the problem. There is a guide in the FAQ which covers installing/uninstalling new drivers.

Ahhhhh !!!! The Catalyst Control Center is NOT working.

I removed and reinstalled again and the CCC still NOT working.

AMD already reported it to the case. Putz !!!!!

@arturaragao

Last time I was change the stable driver on AMD VGA Card. I think so this is not AMD issue. Did you use the DDU ? Do you clean install the driver ? Because I was clean install the 14.4 Amd 8.1 VGA driver, installation before Windows update find new one 1.3 driver. If you want to clean install, when you must disable the internet connection. Because you can clean the old driver but second start the OS, that time windows update starting the installation that 1.3 version driver on. This is Microsoft issue. Not Amd. Do you want really clean installing the new driver, when you must do these steps are ;

1-) Download the "Display Driver Uninstaller" any website ( You must looking for the lastest version!)

2-) Extract the files on any folder ( or create new one and extract there ).

3-) Disabled the internet connection.

4-) Open the folder and find the "Display Driver Uninstaller.exe", right clicked on mouse button and clicked on "Work as Administrator".

5-) The windows will be restarting and open on Safe mode. Accept all messages and Clicked "Clean and restart" on left side button.

6-) When windows restarting and started normal mode. Now you can installed new driver ( example 14.4 ).

7-) You dont have "CLI.exe" or same error now.

Why you can show this error ? Have a lot of cause about this ;

1-) Did you checked C++ and Red. Packs ? ( 2005, 2008, 2011 or 2012 C++ Red. Packs needed and .Net client / full version needed about this )

2-) Did you installed 3rd party VGA programs ? ( Some 3rd VGA programs directly touched VGA Drivers and .dll files. Dont forget this )

3-) You dont like the windows updates. Can you checked the lastest updates ? If you dont, when please check.

I think so you can resolve this problem now.

Sincerely,

Zahir Murat

There are two ways to install beta drivers. If you follow the guide you should have no problem....that means have your computer fully updated.

Driver installs

The worst thing is that now my ***** with 14.4 also. I'll try to do what to suggest, because before everything was OK. The 14.7 is what made this mess.
